Laser Cutter

The Music is awful, but the process is amazing.

Notes from Demonstration:

  • Cuts in the middle of the line (2mm).
  • Rhino/Illustrator files - Ai files/.dxf files.
  • Different colours mean different cuts: Red -Cut, Blue - Kiss Cut, Light Blue - No Cut, Green - Engrave; Uses true colours.
  • Can "rasta" an image (jpeg, preferably a tif file) will cut an image onto the surface of the media - can then be further engraved/etched and cut.
  • Use edge detector/ vector trace to find the lines in the image.
  • will cut wooden and plastic media up to 25mm thick.
  • Wood will have a singed edge after cutting (because it uses heat) - can be useful when going onto spray paint wood - the laser seals the edge of the wood.
  • The laser will flame polish the edges of plastics - can melt them of it's too strong.
  • laser has to be set to cut the hardest material in a composite material piece.
